An adjunct professor at the UNLV Boyd School of Law, Assemblyman Ozzie Fumo has lived in Las Vegas for over 40 years.

Ozzie is a partner at Pitaro & Fumo, a small business that he has run for 20 years and is known throughout the Las Vegas community for their professionalism and fierce advocacy for Nevadans from all walks of life.

A first-generation American, Ozzie is a graduate of Bishop Gorman High School, the University of San Diego, and holds a law degree from Whittier Law School.

"Early on I learned about bullies, how sometimes they’re people, sometimes they’re corporations, and sometimes they’re even the government. That’s why I do the work I do, because I believe everyone deserves a defense and everyone should be treated fairly under the law."

In addition to his legal practice and teaching, Ozzie is one of the few select members of the community to sit as a Judge on Metro’s Police Use of Force Board.

First elected in 2016, Ozzie is committed to fighting for Assembly District 21 and his track record in the State Legislature is defined by success. Learn more about legislation Ozzie has sponsored here.

Thanks to his many years in the state, Ozzie knows the challenges working families face firsthand and has a long-term vision for Nevada that includes improving our schools, diversifying our economy, and making Nevada a nationwide leader in solar energy.

Ozzie and his family have lived in our Assembly District since 1999. Together, he and his wife Ellen have five children, four girls and one boy.

“I have over two decades of experience fighting on the behalf of everyday Nevadans. I don’t see myself as a politician, but simply as someone who loves Nevada and wants to do what’s right for everyone who lives here, no matter where they’re from or how much money they have.”

"I get my work-ethic from my parents, but I definitely get my love of Las Vegas from my family, my kids and grandkids."

"My dad was a blue collar guy with a white collar job. He was the Director of Food and Beverage Purchasing at the Las Vegas Hilton when it was the largest hotel in the world. But his office was on the docks, he worked hand-in-hand with those who did the heavy lifting and when the Teamsters struck, he was someone who refused to cross the picket line."
